At Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, KIA has stood for cooperativestudies with integrated(vocational)trainingfor over 20 years. More than 1,500 graduates testify to the success of this study model.
This form of study is either a 5-year engineering degree course leading to a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) or a 4.5-year Bachelor's degree course with integrated vocational training.
Depending on the company, students start on August 1 or September 1 of the year with 4 or 8 weeks of practical training in the company and complete their first semester of full-time study at the university from October 1 of the year. This is followed by 4 part-time semesters with a 4-week rotation between the university and the company.
During this time, i.e. in the practical phases of the part-time semesters and in the respective semester breaks, the practical vocational training is carried out in the training company, including the IHK/HWK final examination. The theoretical vocational training is carried out at the university.
From the 6th semester onwards, full-time study follows in the chosen course (mechanical engineering or energy and environmental engineering) until graduation.
Admission requirements are the same as for an undergraduate degree course:
In addition, there is a training contract with a partner company!
In addition to this KIA model, young people with a skilled worker's qualification who are interested in further qualification can also complete a degree in the above-mentioned courses at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences as part of the KIApro model.
A change between the diploma and bachelor's degree courses in mechanical engineering or energy and environmental engineering is possible from the 6th semester onwards without any further conditions due to the course network.
After graduation, the consecutive Master's degree courses "Mechanical Engineering" or "Energy and Environmental Engineering" can be taken.
