The training-integrated cooperative (dual) study program (KIA) offers interested companies the opportunity to employ school leavers with a university entrance qualification as trainees in their company and have them study at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences at the same time.
Furthermore, there is also the possibility for suitable skilled workers without a high school diploma to begin a career-integrated course of study at the HS Zittau/Görlitz with a valid university entrance qualification (KIApro).
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has been offering such dual study models in the Mechanical Engineering and Energy and Environmental Technology courses since 1997.
More than 1,550 KIA graduates from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences speak for the success of this training model.
They select the KIA students and recruit them.
The first semester is completed full-time at the university. In the following four semesters, the students alternate between 4 weeks at your company and 4 weeks at the university during the lecture periods. During the lecture-free periods, they work at the company. After 2½ years, KIA students take the IHK/HWK skilled worker examination.
Either the students then take up a skilled worker position - possibly in your company - or they continue their studies. Experience shows that, with a few exceptions, students continue their studies and complete them successfully.
In addition to this KIA model, your employees with a skilled worker qualification who are interested in further qualification can start a direct course of study at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences as part of the KIApro model. A valid university entrance qualification is required.
