Come In Weeks at the HSZG

Pre-courses and leisure activities ensured a successful start to the course at the end of September.

Dear first-year students, we're glad you've arrived safely! From September 16 to 27, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences welcomed you as part of its Come in weeks to warmly welcome its new students.

Whether preliminary courses to refresh your knowledge in the natural sciences or leisure activities to help you settle into your new phase of life and get to know each other. With the Come In Weeks, first semester students at both university locations can optimally prepare for their start at the HSZG!

In line with the motto "by students for students", a team of students organized a wide range of activities to give the new arrivals a warm welcome. Many of you took advantage of this opportunity! We say thank you and wish you lots of fun at your university!

The Come in weeks are a great opportunity to get to know the university and the cities, but also to meet new people. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely take advantage of these two weeks!

Campus breakfast with the StuRa

For the second time, a healthy and sustainable breakfast break took place as part of the Come In Weeks. More than 50 first-year students accepted our invitation on September 18 and enjoyed regional vegetables and bread, fresh fruit and delicious apple pie. In addition to the first-year students, the Rectorate and the Student Council were also present to welcome our new students and encourage interaction. A successful start to an exciting time studying at the HSZG!

Together with the University Health Management, we would like to make the campus breakfast, which was once again very well received this year, a tradition as part of the Come In Weeks and extend the event to both campuses. For us as student representatives, it is particularly important that students get to know the StuRa as a low-threshold contact as soon as they arrive at the HSZG.

Successful "KIA Shuttle Start" - welcome event for our new KIA students

Our annual welcome event for the new KIA students, the "KIA Shuttle Start", took place on September 17 as part of the Come In Weeks. It was with great enthusiasm that we welcomed our dual students, who this year once again make up around half of the students in the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

After the welcoming words of Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, the KIA representatives introduced themselves and gave an overview of the further course of studies. The close exchange with our partner companies enables students to gain practical experience during their studies and gain valuable insights into the professional world. This combination of theory and practice not only enriches the course, but also everyday university life.

Special thanks go to Pauline Rechenberg, who as KIA student representative is always on hand to provide active support despite her busy schedule.

This year, special attention was paid to the team-building games, which were professionally run by Sebastian Tzschach and his team from Teamwörks. His experiential educational games loosened up the atmosphere and helped the first-year students to get to know each other and make their first contacts. The day provided the perfect opportunity to break the ice and lay the foundations for a strong network among the students.

Another highlight was the excellent event catering by Philipp Steffen, who provided the perfect culinary conclusion to the event with individually created burgers and freshly grilled potato wedges.

We look forward to a successful collaboration with the new KIAs and would like to thank everyone involved and our cooperation partners for the successful start to the new training year.
